Have you ever been at work, and watched the clock out of boredom? Didn’t it make for the longest day ever? On the other hand, have you ever been fully engaged with your work, and had your day seemingly wisp away? Which day were you more productive?
Imagine ridding the workplace of those long, arduous, clock-watching days, and converting everyday into a productive time filled with focused, efficient work. That is one of the benefits of being a member of an engaged workforce.
It is accomplished by first gauging the level of engagement already present in your workplace in order to determine why it is lacking where it is lacking. Keep in mind that this is done in effort to improve engagement across the board.
A Chain is Only As Strong As the Weakest Link
Does the person who comes in lacking energy and the will to engage with the problems at hand affect everyone else? Absolutely, and not positively, unfortunately. What if you could locate those who drag your workforce down, and convert them into a positive force in your business?
It Only Takes Electrifying One Link of That Same Chain…
On the other side of the spectrum, the single person who shows up energetic, aware, and concerned with the goals of the business drastically pushes the needle in a positive direction. They inspire other people to strive, engage, and be more productive. Wouldn’t it be nice to have more people more energetically attacking your company’s goals?
Obviously, the examples I just presented are a simplification of two opposing scenarios in order to help prove a point, but the scenario is not all that far off from reality, or that uncommon. The level of engagement that can be attributed to each employee is a direct indication of how well your company is performing compared to its potential. Or, in other words, finding out how your employees feel about their environment, and the role they play within the larger scheme of your organization, lends insight into how you can improve those sentiments in order to create a more engaged, productive workforce.
